Chloé Lamont
Multi- disciplinary fine Artist
Chloé's work focuses on themes of femininity and
fragility, sexism and sexuality.
The act of painting on ornate baroque frames
serves as an act of defiance against historical
sexism within the art world. Typically, the images
of women that are held within such frames are
that of cowering or vulnerable women who are both
victims of their time and of the ever
preevalent male gaze.
Chloé has just finished her first collection working with resin
to create transparent structures in the shape of
shattered baroque frames. She does this to
subvert the original context of a frame. Rather
than these frames being filled with pristine images
of unrealistic and outdated ideals of what it is
to be a woman, Lamont paints imperfect, abstract
images of naked women to reclaim her own
sexuality, as well as the sexuality of any woman
who has felt boxed in by their own admittance to
enjoying pleasure.
